Guides for rail passengers
Tickets, passenger rights, connections, stations, bicycles and night journeys. Practical guides with official sources.
Delays, refunds and complaints
After a delay or a cancellation, keep your ticket and note the travel date and the train number. A delay shown in MapaPociągów is not a certificate of the arrival time or a decision on compensation.
Train categories: check the operator
The label next to the train number (for example IC or TLK) shows the category of the service. Before you choose a train, check the operator, the number and the route for your date of travel.
Choosing the right station
Choose the full station name, not just the town: many towns have several stations. Before checking departures and arrivals, make sure that the station and the date are right. A station missing from our data does not mean that it has no rail service.
Planning a connection
Compare the scheduled arrival and the next departure on the same day. Allow for the walk between platforms, a possible platform change and any assistance you need. We have not verified a minimum connection time for every station.
Reading the delay history
For each day, the chart shows the latest reported delay of the runs with a given train number. It is not a confirmed arrival time at the final station.
Planning an overnight journey
Check the departure date and any arrival after midnight separately. A service that crosses midnight may still belong, in the timetable, to the day it departed. Search for the date on your ticket and confirm the whole journey with the operator.
Travelling on regional trains
Search by the exact stations and date. An operator being in the GTFS data does not mean that all its regional services are included or that we have current delays for them.
Getting to the airport by train
Check the full station name and where it is in relation to your terminal. A search result alone does not confirm the walk to the terminal, a shuttle bus or that you will make your flight.
Taking a bike on the train
Check the operator’s bicycle rules for the specific service: whether you need a reservation and a bike ticket, how many spaces there are and whether size limits apply.
Checking fares and ticket conditions
Compare the same route, date, passenger category and ticket conditions in the operators’ sales channels. The MapaPociągów timetable does not show current fares or seat availability.
Accessibility and assistance
Confirm with the operator or the station assistance service the accessible route through both stations and the facilities of the specific train. A station marker or a timetable entry does not confirm step-free access.
Planning a scenic journey
Plan the route and the date with the timetable, then confirm that the train runs. MapaPociągów does not keep a ranking of scenic routes or the timetables of seasonal tourist trains.
Disruptions and strikes
Before you travel, check the operator’s current notices and Portal Pasażera. If our data shows nothing, that does not mean there is no strike, engineering work or cancellation.
Choosing an operator on your route
On many routes in Poland, trains of different operators run. Check which operator runs the connection you want, and compare the journey time and the ticket conditions.
Find the operator before making a claim
First find out which operator and which ticket the problem concerns. The claim is made to that operator.
Checking a daily commute
Save the exact train or station and check the date every time: the same train number can mean different runs.
A train label does not describe its facilities
The category and the name of a train in the timetable do not tell you which train will run. In the search result, check the operator, the number, the stations and the date.
Train notifications: current limits
Notifications are not active in this pilot. MapaPociągów does not send train alerts.
Passenger rights after a delay or cancellation
Keep your ticket, the travel date, the train number and the operator’s disruption notice. A delay shown in MapaPociągów is not a certificate of the arrival time or a decision on compensation.
Sleeper and couchette prices
We do not show sleeper or couchette prices. Before buying, check availability and price with the operator for the specific train, date and type of berth.
